Mattel’s 1989 Food Fighters

As promised i found a way to blog, by taking photos. Imagine if the food fighters walked into a sears portrait studio and bought the family pack, thats what i’m going for here. I really wanted to catch the true context that these figured were released into. The wall paper is vintage stock from my grandparents house that was build in the 1960s. They never changed this wall paper till the mid 2000’s. I spend so many Christmases with this wall paper and i’m sure most of you who remember this line did as well. I uploaded all of the wallpaper sets so you can pick which ones work for you best.

The problem with being NEEEL

The entire time i was in school i was dying to start a pop culture toy blog like my hero Dinosaur Dracula, but here’s the problem. I hate writing, i have nothing to say or just don’t know how to say it, i hate everything i put down on paper. So here’s the Solution, I’m just going to work on a rare toy photography dump. I’m in a unique position to share certain content with the world and i’m going to use it. I cant ever post or talk about what I’m designing for work but i can use my other talents and dump it out there for fellow freaks. So in the Up coming months expect to see more content popping up on here; unboxing videos, toy reviews, and tons of photo shoots, with very little verbal interruptions.

Clean up

Man so now that i’m finally done with school, i can start to clean up this webpage and focus more on me time. Surfing, Spearfishing, Video Games and Sleeping. I’d like to start learning some animatronics and get back into film. So excited about the future now! Here are some shots of my gradshow via instagram.

Personal Mood Boards

So you wanna make it as a designer? You gotta make a personal mood board for your self. Slap together pictures that inspire you, colors, swatches ect. Then start to peice together your style from it. My personal design manifesto and webpage came from this mood board here.

head over to the “about” section of http://www.neeel.com to see how i used a mood board to craft a personal identity. Now try making one for your self its more fun than you think and see what you can come up with!

Lego’s Builder Club

For some reason my mother helped my brother and i make 3 ring binders full of Lego instructions, character bios and toybox art…why? So 20 some years later i can upload up on the internet. Most of the posts i’ll be making are taken from these time capsules. I wouldnt consider these articles, just me reminiscing on the internet. Its amazing how much foresight our mother displayed in 1988…that i’d be writing about these things 30 years later.

Sadly i was never apart of the Builders Club…it seemed a little pricey to me back then, but i did manage to get a few samples out of the free issue.

Two things….Spiderweb wallpaper? and is that a lego wedding gown? I love this scene, i wonder what other kind of treasures i missed by not joining this club…..

lego indians, doing a war dance…cool, and that knee action! It really looks like a real life version of night stalker for intellivision. And they are red…red Indians hmm.

Noah’s Ark? or that part from the Never Ending Story with the racing snail? cow in the upper left has lego utters

I have to make a comment about this one, notice how it has little lego holes where you could put string to hang your art or poke pins in…think how beautifully it would be displayed next to a large ceramic mushroom clock from sears on the wall, or a needle point owl….oh inspiration lego decor be thy name.

All and all….looking at these files now, i think that it might have been a solid investment to get a years worth of lego builder magazines, (just for the decorating ideas alone!) but then again…$7.95 was a little over the price of 2 G.I. Joes back then. I can see where my priorities laid.
